Emmy Nominated: Talking Black In America – Roots

Our third episode in the Talking Black In America series, Talking Black In America – Roots, has been nominated for a Southeast Emmy! This marks the third Emmy nomination for the series, with the first episode, Talking Black In America, winning in 2020.

Roots is a celebration of African American resiliency, creativity, and ingenuity, finding a connection of the spirit among the peoples and societies of West Africa and the African Diaspora. Filmed in Ghana, The Bahamas, and throughout the United States, it explores African American language and culture and their transformative influence on the United States and beyond.

Congratulations to the producers of Roots, Neal Hutcheson, Walt Wolfram, Danica Cullinan, and Renée Blake, on the well-earned Emmy Nomination; and congratulations to the other fantastic nominees in the Historical Documentary category. The 2023 Southeast Emmy Awards will be held on June 17th in Atlanta, Georgia.
